A particle is moving in straight linecovers half distance in 3m/s & the other half of the distance in two equal time intervals with speed of 4.5m/s and 7.5m/s . What is the average speed of particle?

Alet the total distance covered by particle = 2x
therefore time required to cover 1st half of total distance = distance/speed
= x/3
now time required to cover x/2 part of next half = x/2*4.5 = x/ 9
similarly for next half = x/2*7.5 = x/15
now average speed = total distance/total time
= 2x/x/3+x/9+x/15
now average speed = total distance/total time
= 2x/x/3+x/9+x/15
= 3.91 m/s
