Answer:

This is a case of Arithmetic Progression

Here a =12 (initial velocity), d = 0.5 an = 0 (final velocity) after n seconds

Put in the formula

an = a + (n - 1)d

0 = 12 + (n -1)(-0.5) (d is minus because velocity is decreasing)

0=12-0.5n +0.5

0.5n = 12.5

n = 12.5/0.5 = 25

So velocity will be zero after 25 seconds

and the distance travelled = 25×0.5 =12.5m
