Answer:When a body is thrown vertically upward, after some time the particle reaches a maximum point and then begins to fall. Then from the above figure, x is the displacement of particle. AB shows the displacement as the body goes up and BC shows the variation when the body comes down after reaching a maximum value. Figure (1)
