Change in velocity is given by,

∆v = {2v \sin(  \frac{ \alpha }{2}  ) }

For a complete quarter,

 \alpha  = 90

∆v = {2v \sin(  \frac{ 90 }{2}  ) }

∆v ={2v \sin(  45 ) }

∆v = {2v  \frac{1}{ \sqrt{2} }  }

∆v =  \sqrt{2} v
