A particle moves for 20 seconds with velocity 3 m/s and then
velocity 4 m/s for another 20 seconds and finally moves with
velocity 5 m/s for next 20 seconds. What is the average
velocity of the particle?

Answer:

Total distance covered by particle

d = v1t1 + v2t2 + v3t3

∵t1 = t2 = t3 = 20sec

d = 20(3 + 4 + 5) = 240m

total time,

T = 3 × 20 = 60sec

Average velocity,

v = 240/60

= 4 m/s
