distance moved is

(4^2+1^2)^0.5 or 2.236m

because it has moved 4cm on x axis and 1cm on y axis. Pythagoras theorem.

Now this 2.236cm is moved in 2 sec. So velocity is 2.236/2=1.118cm/sec
