A particle moving in a straight line covers half of the distance with a speed of 13ms^2. The other half is covered in two equal time intervals with a speed of 14.5ms^2and 17.5ms^2respectively. The average speed of the particle during its motion is Search Results Web results

Half distance ===> 13m/s

Half distance ===> In two equal time periods one with 14.5m/s and another 17.5m/s.

Let total distance be 2x.

x with 13m/s. And remaining x with 14.5m/s and 17.5m/s.

In the second half its saying equal time period.

Half distance ===> x

Average speed = Total distance / Total time

In second half:

Total distance in second half = x

x = 14.5 x t + 17.5 x t

x = 32t

x/32 = t

Total time in second half.

In First Half:

Distance/ Speed = Time

x/13m/s = Time

Total distance ===> 2x

Total time ===> x/32 + x/13 = (13x+32x)/416 = 45x/416

2x/45x/416 = Total distance/Total time

Total distance/Total time = 18.48 m/s
