A particle moving in a straight line covers half the
distance with speed of 10 m/s. The other half of
the distance is covered in two equal time intervals
with speed of 4.5 m/s and 7.5 m/s respectively.
The average speed of the particle during this
motion is :
(1) 8.0 m/s
(2) 12.0 m/s
(3) 10.0 m/s
(4) 7.5 m/s

Answer:

Answer is option 4th ie. 7.5 m/s

Explanation:

V1 = 10 m/s

V2 = 6 m/s [ By using (V1+V2)/2 ]

Avg speed = (2V1V2) / (V1+V2)

= 120 / 16

= 15/2 = 7.5
