The percentage increase in displacement during sixth second compared to that in 5th second is 44%

Explanation :

Let the acceleration of the particle is a m/s²

From the laws of motion we know that,

S = ut + at²/2

since u = 0, hence

S = at²/2

Displacement at the end of 5 second,

S₅ = a(5)²/2 = 12.5a

Displacement at the end of 6 second,

S₆ = a(6)²/2 = 18a

Increase in displacement,

S = 18a - 12.5a = 5.5a

Hence percentage increase in displacement

= (5.5/12.5) x 100

= 44%

Hence The percentage increase in displacement during sixth second compared to that in 5th second is 44%
