A particle of mass m=2kg is free to move along x axis under
the influence of a conservative force. The potential energy
function of the particle is
U(x) = a[(x/b) - 5(x/b) ] J
Where a = 1.0J and b = 1.0m. if the total mechanical energy of
the particle is zero.
(a) Plot this potential energy function; identify the regions where
the particle may be found.
(b) Calculate the maximum speed of the particle.​

The potential energy (PE) vs separation graph is shown in figure. From the graph- (i) the nuclear force is repulsive when the separation is less 1 fm (1fermi=10−15m). (ii) It is attractive when the separation is greater than 1 fm.
