Answer: The amplitude of linear SHM  is 2 cm.

Explanation:

  • First, let's see some characteristics of uniform circular motion:-A body moving in a circular motion is referred to as being in a circular motion.
  • Uniform Circular Motion is the term used to describe a body traveling in a circular direction at a constant speed. While the velocity in this case changes, the speed is constant.
  • A particle must be experiencing some acceleration toward the center of the circle if it is rotating about that point. Since this acceleration is always perpendicular to the particle's instantaneous velocity, it only modifies the direction of velocity, not its amount, leading to uniform circular motion.
  • The amplitude of linear SHM =Radius of the circle      (1)

From the question we have that the diameter of the circle is 4 cm.

And we know that the radius is half of the diameter.

So, the radius of the circle will be 2 cm.The amplitude of linear SHM = 2 cm.
