Explanation:

particle starts moving from position of rest under a constant acceleration. ... (d) the average speed of a particle (defined as total path length divided by the time taken to cover the path) is either greater or equal to the magnitude of average velocity of the particle over the same interval of time.

Answer:

Given,

Initial velocity, u = 0

Distance travelled, s = x

Time taken to travel x distance, t = t sec

Now, using the relation,

S = ut +1/2 at^2

X = 0 +1/2 at^2........(i)

Let the body travel a distance y in next t

seconds.

The total distance travelled in t+t = 2t sec will be

(x+y).

Therefore,

(x+y) = 1/2 a(2t)^2

= 1/2a x 4t^2.......(ii)

Dividing equation (2) by (1), we have

(x + y)/x = 4

y = 3x
