A particle starts from the origin,goes along x-axis to the point(10m,0)and then returns along the same line to the point(-10m,0).calculate the distance and displacement of the particle during the trip.

The distance is the total length of the path which a body has covered.....but disolacement refers to how much a body has changed its position...from the initial state.....so in your case....
distance of the particle=10m*2=20(direction doesnt matter being scalar)
displacement=0 sunce it didnt change its position at all
