GIVEN :

  • Initial velocity, u = 10 m/s.
  • Uniform retardation = 2 cm/s².

FORMULAS USED :

  • S = ut + 1/2 at²
  • V = u² + 2as

TO FIND :

  1. Time to travel a distance of 24 cm.
  2. Velocity after travelling a distance of 11 cm.

SOLUTION :

1) Time to travel a distance of 24 cm.

Using the formula, S = ut + 1/2 at².

Put the given values in the above formula,

S = ut + 1/2 at².

S = 10 × 15 + (0.5 × 0.02 × 15²)

•°• S = 152.5 m.

ii) Velocity after travelling a distance of 11 cm,

Velocity, v = √u² + 2as.

Put the given values in the above formulas,

V = √10⁶ + 44

•°• V = 1 km/s.
