GIVEN :
- Initial velocity, u = 10 m/s.
- Uniform retardation = 2 cm/s².
FORMULAS USED :
- S = ut + 1/2 at²
- V = u² + 2as
TO FIND :
- Time to travel a distance of 24 cm.
- Velocity after travelling a distance of 11 cm.
SOLUTION :
1) Time to travel a distance of 24 cm.
Using the formula, S = ut + 1/2 at².
Put the given values in the above formula,
S = ut + 1/2 at².
S = 10 × 15 + (0.5 × 0.02 × 15²)
•°• S = 152.5 m.
ii) Velocity after travelling a distance of 11 cm,
Velocity, v = √u² + 2as.
Put the given values in the above formulas,
V = √10⁶ + 44
•°• V = 1 km/s.
