Given:

  • Initial velocity = 10m/s
  • Acceleration = 2m/ {s}^{2}
  • Time = t = 4sec

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Need to find:

  • Final velocity = v =?

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Solution:

We know from the first equation of motion, that:

v = u + at

→ v = 10 + 2 × 4 m/s

→v = 10 + 8 m/s

→ v = 18m/s

The velocity of the particle at t= 4sec is 18m/s.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Displacement in that time:

 {v}^{2}  -  {u}^{2}  = 2as

 {18}^{2}  -  {10}^{2}  = 2 \times 2 \times s

→ 324 - 100 = 4s

→ 4s = 224 m

→ s = 224 ÷ 4m

→ s = 56m

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Knowledge cell:

  • 1st equation of motion: v = u + at

  • 2nd equation of motion: s = ut +  \dfrac{1}{2} a {t}^{2}

  • 3rd equation of motion: {v}^{2}  -  {u}^{2}  = 2as

  • Velocity = Displcement ÷ Time

  • s =  \dfrac{u + v}{2} t

  • Snth= u+  \dfrac{a}{2} (2n- 1)

  • The equations of motions are used to derieve final velocity, initial velocity acceleration, displacement or time taken.
