Dear student,

Given :-

  • initial velocity, u = 2 m/s
  • acceleration, a = 5 m/s²
  • time duration, t = 4 sec

To find :-

  • displacement of the particle

Solution :-

For displacement of a particle, we know by the Newtonian equation of motion that;

              S = ut + 1/2 at²

Putting the given values in the above formula, we obtain;

   S = 2 × 4 + 1/2 × 5 × 4²

   S = 8 + 5 × 8

   S = 8 + 40

  S = 48 m

Hence, the displacement of the particle is 48 m.
