hello.
time when the particle was at the rest = 1 AM
uniform speed of 50 km/h = 1:30 am to 2:00 am
a)distance covered between 1:30 & 2:00 am= speed * time= 50 *1/2=25km
average speed = total distance/total time taken
= 25/1 = 25km/h
b)average speed = 25/(3/4) =33km/h
c)average speed=25/(1/2)=50km/h

Concept:

The average speed can be defined as the total distance with respect to the total time taken.

a = u/t

where a is average speed, u is the total distance traveled and t is the total time taken,

Given:

The uniform speed, u = 50km/hour.

Find:

The average speed between (a) 1:00am to 2:00am (b) 1:15am to 2:00am and (c) 1:30am to 2:00am.

Solution:

Total distance covered between 1:30 & 2:00 am

d = speed × time = 50 × 30/60

d = 50/2 = 25 km

(a) The total time taken from 1:00 am to 2:00 am is 1hr,

a = u/t

a = 25km/1 hr = 25 km/hr

The average speed between 1:00 am to 2:00 am is 25 km/hr.

(b) The total time taken from 1:15 am to 2:00 am is 3/4hr,

a = u/t

a = 25km/(3/4) hr

a = 100/3 km/hr

The average speed between 1:15 am to 2:00 am is 100/3 km/hr.

(c) The total time taken from 1:30 am to 2:00 am is 1/2 hr,

a = u/t

a = 25km/(1/2) hr

a = 50 km/hr

The average speed between 1:30 am to 2:00 am is 50 km/hr.

Hence, the average speed between 1:00 am to 2:00 am, 1:15 am to 2:00 am and 1:30 am to 2:00 am is 25 km/hr, 100/3 km/hr, and 50 km/hr respectively.
