we know

g = GM/r² ----- (1)

If the body taken to the height above earth surface

g = GM/( r + h)² ----(2)

Dividing (2) by (1)

we get ,

1/4 = r²/(r+h)²

Taking square roots on both sides

1/2= r/(r+h)

r + h = 2 r

h = r

h = 6400 k m
