Question:-

A particle with an initial speed 17 m/s and uniformly retards with 2 m/s^2 . find the distance covered by the particle in 8 th and 9 th second of motion.

Given:-

  • Particle has an initial velocity of 17m/s.
  • It has a retardation of 2m/s².

To Find:-

  • Find the distance covered in 8th and 9th second.

Formulas:-

  • v = u + at
  • v² - u² = 2as
  • s = ut + 1/2 at²

Solution:-

u = 17m/s ; a = -2m/s² ; t = 8.5 sec ; find distance travelled at 8th sec.

s = ut + 1/2 at²

s = 17 × 8.5 + 1/2 × -2 × 8.5 × 8.5

s = 144.5 - 72.25

s = 72.25m
