Answer:

Given

particle 1

distance travelled= s1

speed = v1

particle 2

distance travelled= s2

speed = v2

To Find

Expression for average speed

Solution

Formula for average speed-

◾</u></em></strong></p><p><strong><em><u>[tex]◾ \bold{average \: speed \:  = \frac{total \: distance}{total \: time} }

We need to find the total time taken by both the particles in order to find the average speed.

 \bold{time =  \frac{distance}{speed} }

consider particle 1 -

time taken= S1 / V1

consider particle 2

time taken= S2/ V2

substitute the value in the formula of average speed:

❐average \: speed =  \frac{s1 + s2}{t1 + t2}

 ❐\bold{average \: speed =  \frac{s1 + s2}{ \frac{s1}{v1}  </u></em></strong><strong><em><u>+</u></em></strong><strong><em><u>\frac{s2}{v2} } }
