Answer:
This is due to inertia. When the speeding bus stops suddenly, lower part of the body comes to rest while the upper part of the body tends to maintain uniform motion. Hence, the passenger's are thrown forward.

This is due to INERTIA OF MOTION.
- Let's assume that a passenger is standing in a moving bus. As a result , the passenger as well as the bus are in motion.
- Now, the bus suddenly stops.
- The lower part of the passenger (in contact with bus) stops with the bus.
- However, the upper part of the body of the passenger is still in motion and does not stop even after the bus has stopped.
- This causes sudden moving forward of the passenger and this might cause injuries.
- So, inertia of motion can be used to explain this phenomenon.
Hope It Helps.
