downward acceleration(a)= 1.8m/s

net acceleration when loft goes down= g-a

= 9.8 - 1.8

=8 m/s²

i) apparent weight= m(g-a)

= 30 x 8

= 240 N

ii) during free fall

weight= mg

30 x 9.8

=294 N
