Answer:

617.5 miles

Step-by-step explanation:

Let after x hours the superfast train will overtake the passenger train,

Given,

The speed of superfast train = 95 kmph,

So, the distance covered by superfast train in x hours = 95x,

Also, the speed of passenger train = 65 kmph,

∵ passenger train leaves 3 hours before the superfast train,

Distance covered by it in 3 hours = 65 × 3 = 195 miles ( distance = speed × time ),

Additional distance covered by passenger train in x hours = 65x,

Total distance covered by passenger train = 195 + 65x,

When superfast train overtake passenger train,

95x = 195 + 65x

30x = 195,

x = 6.5 hours.

Hence, the distance after which superfast train overtake the passenger train = 95 × 6.5 = 617.5 miles.
