A passenger train travels at a speed of 72 km/h. A man on the passenger train observes a goods train travelling at a speed of 54 km/h in the opposite direction. If the goods train passes him in 8 seconds, find the length of the goods train.

Since both the trains are traveling in opposite direction the effective speed will be 72+54=126 km/hr 126×1000 m/3600 sec=126×10/36 =35 metre per second

So in 8 sec distance covered = 8×35 = 280 metre
