A passenger was waiting for the train on platform no. 3. It was announced that the train will arrive on
platform no. 8. He called a porter and asked him to take his luggage to platform no. 8. The porter put the
luggage on his head and moved towards platform no. 8. He walked a distance of 300 metres and reached
near the overbridge stairs. As soon as he was about to climb the stairs, it was announced that the train
will arrive on platform no. 3 as per its previous schedule. The passenger asked the porter to go back and
put the luggage on its earlier site so porter did the same. (Given - weight of luggage = 50 N and weight of
porter = 65 N)
(a) Has any work been done in above case? If yes, how much work has been done? If no, why?
(b) Should the passenger pay the porter? Why and why not?
(c) If the porter is not paid, is any moral value violated? If yes, which one?
