A path 1.5 m wide is running outside a rectangular plot of 30 m by 20 m. determine the area of the path and also the cost for paving it at the rate of rs 12 per square metre.

$\bf AB=CD=30m \: \: \: (opposite \: side \: of \: a \: rectangle) \\ </p><p> \sf \: and \\ </p><p>\bf BC=AD=20cm</p><p>$

$</p><p>\bf \: EF=GH=30+1.5+1.5=33 \\ </p><p></p><p>\bf \: FG=HE=20+1.5+1.5=23 \\ </p><p></p><p>\sf☞Area\ of \ rectangle \: EFGH = l ×b \\ </p><p>\sf 33×23 =759 m^2$

Now

$\bf \ Area \: of \: rectangle \: ABCD = l ×b \\ </p><p>\sf 30×20 =600m^2$

After that ,

$\sf Area \: of \: path= \: 759 -600 \\ </p><p>\sf \ =159m^2</p><p></p><p>$

$\sf cost \: of \: paving \: =159×12= RS \: 1908</p><p></p><p>$

= 33×23

Now

Area of rectangle ABCD = l ×b

= 30×20

=600m²

After that ,

Area of path= 759 -600

cost of paving =159×12
