Answer:

Area of path = 49.75

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • Side of the square garden is 50m
  • Width of path is 2.5 cm

To Find:

  • What is the area of path?

Solution: Let ABCD be a square park of side 50m and EFGH is another square inside this park.

Area of Square ABCD = (Side)²

\small\implies{\sf } Area of ABCD = (50)²

\small\implies{\sf } Area of ABCD = 2500

In Square EFGH

Width of path is in cm so we have to convert it in m

1 m = 100 cm

2.5 cm = 2.5/100 = 0.025 m

  • Length of EF = AB ( 0.025 + 0.025) cm
  • Length of EF = 50 0.05 = 49.5 m

We know that all sides of Square are equal

EF = FG = GH = HE = 49.5 m

Area of Square EFGH = (Side)²

\small\implies{\sf } Area of EFGH = (49.5)²

\small\implies{\sf } Area of EFGH = 2450.25

To find the area of Path we have to subtract Area of EFGH from ABCD

\small\implies{\sf } Area of path = (2500 2450.25)

\small\implies{\sf } Area of path = 49.75

Hence, Area of path is 49.75
