a path 2.5m wide is running around a square field whose side is 45m.determine the area of the path

In this case the length of the path along one edge of the park is 50m (l=50m) and the width is 2.5m (w=2.5m) 

So, using the equation A = l*w to find the area: 
A = l*w 
A = (50m) * (2.5m) 
A = 125 m^2 

Therefore the area of the path along one edge of the park is 125 meters squared. 

There are four sides of the park so multiply this area by 4. 4*125 = 500 m^2 

Then there are the bits of the path off of the corners of the park. These little squares have side length 2.5m so the area of each one is 2.5m * 2.5m which is 6.25 m^2. There are 4 of these path corners so multiply this area by 4. 4*6.25 is 25 m^2. 

Now add 25 m^2 to 500 m^2 to get 525 meters squared in total.

569.624 sq meter..it's because 550sq me along the sides n ..the four quarters are formed along the corners which is equal to area of a circle of radius 2.5 m

πr2= 3.14×2.5×2.5=19.624
so..total area = 550+19.624=569.624
