A path 2 m wide runs inside a square field of side 72 m. Find the area of the path

 area of square was 72^2 

area of square was 5184m^2

after a path was build a new square was formed of side (72-2-2) = 68m

then the area of new square =68^2 


area of new square = 4624m^2


area of path = area of old square - area of new square 

here, area of path = 5184-4624

area of path  = 560m^2
