Before, finding the answer. Let's out how we can find the answer.

  • To find the area of the path, we must first find the area of the outer field. To find it, we must use the formula of :

\boxed{ \sf Area \: of \: Square \: Field = s \times s }

  • Now, to find the area of the inner square. We must find the side of the square, to find it we must add the width of the square twice and subtract it from the side of the outer square.
  • Now, after we get the side of the inner square. We must find the Area, by using the same formula.
  • At last, we must subtract the Area of Outer Square from the Area of Inner Square.

★  Step by step solution is written and a diagram is attached below for better understanding.

Given :

  • The Path around the Inner Square = 2 m
  • Side of Outer Square = 20 m

To find :

  • Area of Path

Solution :

Area of PQRS Square = s × s

                                    = 20 × 20

                                    = 400 m²

Side of Path = Side of PQRS Square - (Width + Width)

                     = 20 - (2 + 2)

                     = 20 - 4

                     = 16 m

Area of ABCD Square = s × s

                                     = 16 × 16

                                     = 256 m²

Area of Path = Area of PQRS Square - Area of ABCD Square

                     = 400 - 256 m

                     = 244 m²

Therefore, Area of Path is 244 m².
