Step-by-step explanation:
(i) Side of the square garden = 60 m and
Width of the path along the border = 2m
Side of square garden without path = 60– (2+2) = 60 – 4= 56m
Now Area of path = Area of ABCD – Area of EFGH
= (AB * AD) – (EF * EH)
= (60 * 60) – (56 * 56)
= 3600 – 3136
= 464 m2
(ii) Area of remaining portion = 56* 56 = 3136m2
The cost of planting grass in 1 m2 of the garden = Rs 5
The cost of planting grass in 3136m2 of the garden = Rs 5 * 3136 = Rs 15, 680
