garden which is 110 m long and 90 m broad. Find

let the outer rectangle is ABCD and inner rectangle is abcd

• length of inner rectangle = 110 m
• breadth of inner rectangle = 90 m

then,

• length of outer rectangle = 110 + 5 + 5 = 120 m
• breadth of outer rectangle = 90 + 5 + 5 = 100 m

we know that,

Area of rectangle = length × breadth

➪ area of inner rectangle = 110 × 90

= 9900 m²

➪ area of outer rectangle = 120 × 100

= 12000 m²

now, area of path outside of inner rectangle is,

• area of ( outer rectangle - inner rectangle )

➪ area of path = 12000 - 9900

= 2100 m²

and we know that,

• 1 Hectare = 10000m²

➪ 2100 m² = 2100/10000 hectares

= 0.21 hectare

so, area of path is 0.21 hectares
