Given

  • Breadth of the path = 5 ft
  • Side of the squared land = 60 ft

To find

  • Area of the path

Concept

Firstly, we will find the area of the squared land. And then we will add (5 + 5) ft in the side of the land and find the area of the path including the squared land. To find the area of the path we will subtract the area of the squared land from the area of the path including the squared land.

Solution

Using formula,

★ Area of the squared land = side²

Substituting the values,

⟶ 60 × 60

⟶ 3600 square ft.

Dimensions of the squared land + path -

  • 60 + (5 + 5) = 70 ft.

★ Area of the squared land + path = side²

Substituting the values,

⟶ 70 × 70

⟶ 4900 square ft.

★ Area of the path = Area of the path + land - Area of the land

⟶ 4900 - 3600

⟶ 1300 square ft.

Therefore, area of the path = 1300 square ft.
