Given :-

• A path of 5m wide is built around and outside of square garden of side 100m
• Cost of planting grass in the garden at the rate of Rs. 10 per m2

Find :-

• Area of path
• Total cost of planing

Explanation

Let,

• Area of square garden = A
• Area of whole square garden ( Include path ) = A'

Using Formula

★ Area of Square = (Side)²

First Calculate Area of Square garden

==> Area of Square garden = (100)²

==> Area of Square garden = 10,000 m²

Now, A path of 5 m wide built around the garden

that's means

• Side will be whole garden (A') = 100 + 5 = 105 m

Now, Calculate are of whole garden (A')

==> A' = (105)²

==> A' = 11,025 m²

For area of path

★ Area of path = A - A'

Keep Value,

==> Area of path = 11,025 - 10,000

==> Area of path = 1025 m²

Now, calculate cost of planting

∵ cost of planting per m² = Rs. 10

•°• Total cost of planting of 10,,000 m² = 10 × 10,000 = Rs. 1,00,000

Hence

• Area of path = 1025 m²
• Total cost of planting of garden Rs. 1,00,000
