Anti diuretic hormone (ADH) deficiency was suspected by doctor and hence he advised the patient a check for the same.

ADH works at DCT level and controls the amount of water to be reabsorbed in / from urine .

Hope it helps

Vasopressin hormone

Step by step explanation:

  • The patient has diabetes insipidus which means the patient has a disorder of salt and water metabolism.
  • Due to this disorder the patient feels immense thirst and increase in urination.
  • The doctor will ask for vassopressin hormone.
  • It is an antidiuretic hormone.
  • This hormone helps in regulating osmolality in the serum and hence maintains volume of water
  • Increase in this hormone causes decrease in urine output
  • Decrease in level of ADH will lead to increase urine output.

Hence the doctor wants to check the level of ADH
