Given :

  • a pedant is made with gold wire in form of circle with diameter 35mm the wire is also used in making 5 diameter which divide the circle in 10 equal parts

To find :

  • the total length of gold wire needed

Solution :

Total length of wire required will be length of 5 diameters and circumference of brooch.

Radius of circle

= 35/2 mm

Circumference of pendent

2πr

= 2 x 22/7 x 35/2

= 110 mm

Length of wire needed

= 110 + 5 x 35

= 110 + 175

= 285 mm

The total length of gold wire needed is 285 mm

Given : A pedant is made with gold wire in form of circle with diameter 35 mm the wire is also used in making 5 diameter which divide the circle in 10 equal parts.

To find : What is the total length of gold wire required.

Using formula :

★ Total length required = Length of wire in circle + Wire used for diameter of circle.

Calculations :

★ Circumference of circle = 2πr.

  • Approximate value of 'π' = 22/7 - We use 22/7 while calculating for circumference of circle in equations.

→ 2 × 22/7 × 35/2

→ 2 × 3.14285714 × 35/2

→ 2 × 3.14285714 × 17.5

→ 6.28 × 17.5

→ 110 mm

→ 3 (35)

→ 175 mm

→ 110 + 175

→ 285 mm

Therefore, 285 mm is the total length of gold wire required.
