perimeter of square = perimeter of rectangle

sides of square = 5 cm each

perimeter of square = 5 * 4 = 20 cm

perimeter of rectangle = 20 cm [ because perimeters of square and rectangle are equal ]

breadth of rectangle = 2 cm

length of rectangle = x

perimeter = 2 ( l + b )

20 = 2 ( x + 2 )

20 = 2x + 4

2x + 4 = 20  [ transposing ]

2x = 20 - 4

2x = 16

x = 16/2 = 8 cm

therefore, the length of the rectangle is 8 cm
