A pendulum of mass m is in it's mean position, a small ball of mass m collides with it in x axis. Find the maximum height attained by pendulum after collision​

As collision is elastic and colliding objects are identical therefore velocities will interchange, i.e pendulum will start moving with velocity v and at max. height it's kinetic energy will change into potential energy.

i.e.

1/2mv²=mgh

⇒h=v²/2g.
