(i) Time-period is 0.1 second

(ii) Frequency is 10 Hertz

Given:

Pendulum oscillates 40 times in 4 seconds.

Solution:

Time period is given by the formula:

T = 1/f

Where, f is frequency

Frequency is number of oscillations produced per second.

Now, the number of oscillations produced in 4 seconds is 40, then number of oscillations produced in 1 second is 10.

Frequency = f = 40/4 = 10 Hz

Now, the time period is given as:

T = 1/10 = 0.1 second

No, human hear cannot hear the sound produced by oscillations.

  • The hearing range of the human ear is 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
  • But the frequency of this sound is 10 Hz which cannot be detected by human ears.
