People Who Value Their Privileges Above Their Principles Lose Both
There is much truth hidden in the above mentioned maxim. Privileges are rights, whereas principles are responsibilities. People who value privileges more than principles are short-sighted, selfish, and self-centered. They only think of grabbing and using things, facilities and services for themselves only. They don’t think about others’ needs, consequences, and other moral and ethical aspects. They just want to do what gives them pleasure and keeps them comfortable. Such people are very dangerous for them society, nation, and the world. Such people are dangerous to their own selves too.
All the problems in this world exist because of such people. And the truth is, a majority of people fall in this category. They harp on their privileges; but when it comes to principles, they turn a deaf ear and blind eye. An internet addict, alcoholic, smoker, fast-food addict, TV addict, etc. all fall in this category. They stick to their privileges; but don’t ever think about the principles. As a result, they suffer in the end. Addiction damages their health and the consequences are fatal.
Environmental issues have become quite serious. The cities and towns in India have become almost highly toxic due to pollution. This pollution can be reduced. But we don’t want to! The reason is all of us value our privileges more! We won’t use cycle because driving cars and motorcycles is our privilege! We will add more pollution during Diwali festivities as burning tons and tons of crackers is our privilege. We love to overlook the principles.
This attitude of valuing privileges more than principles is going to bring doom to us. Let’s be wiser; and let’s start valuing principles also. Otherwise be ready for the utter annihilation of the mankind.
The statement is perfectly True.
People who value their privileges or desires above their principles are considered to be selfish and self centered.
They don’t think about the needs or priorities of others.
Such people are not only dangerous to the society but to themselves too.
The greatest example of this is pollution.
We see our comfort and don’t think once for the pollution created by the vehicles we use.
