SOLUTION

GIVEN

A person bought tv at rs 4800 and spent 20% of it on repairing.

He wants to make a profit of Rs 1728

TO DETERMINE

The percentage should be added in purchase price

EVALUATION

Here it is given that a person bought tv at Rs 4800 and spent 20% of it on repairing.

So Cost of repairing

\displaystyle\sf{ = Rs. \:  \:4800 \times  \frac{20}{100}  }

\displaystyle\sf{ = Rs. \:  \:960 }

Now the person wants to make a profit of Rs 1728

So total price

= Rs ( 4800 + 1728 + 960 )

So the amount should be added in purchase price

= Rs ( 4800 + 1728 + 960 ) - Rs 4800

= Rs 2688

Hence the required percentage should be added in purchase price

\displaystyle\sf{ =  \frac{2688}{48 00 }   \times 100\%}

\displaystyle\sf{ =  \frac{2688}{48 } \%}

\displaystyle\sf{ = 56 \%}
