A person cannot see objects less than 40 cm from his eyes clearly.Name the defect of vision he is suffering from. Calculate the power of lens he should use to read a book at 25 cm distance from his eyes. Draw a ray diagram for correction of the defect using the lens.

The person is suffering from hypermetropia.

u- 25cms
v = -40cm
1/ f = 1/ v - 1/ u
-1/40+ 1/25
-5+ 8/ 200
1/f= 3/200
f= 200/3 =66.67
p= 100/f
100*3/200
p= 1.5D
