The person is suffering from far-sightedness, also known as hyperopia or hypermetropia.

This defect results in the person viewing distanced objects clearly but the nearby objects appear blurred to him.

It is caused by the focussing of light behind the retina instead of focussing on it, thereby making it difficult for the person to observe the nearby objects clearly.
