A person completes 68 km in 50 minutes via Jeep. Starting 20 minutes, he travels by x km/hr and

Given : A person completes 68 km in 50 minutes via Jeep.

Starting 20 minutes, he travels by x km/hr and

next 25 minutes by 2x km/hr and

rest time by 3x km/hr.

To Find : the value of x ?

(A) 64 (B) 36

(C) 49 (D) 4​

Solution:

Distance = speed * time

Starting 20 minutes, he travels by x km/hr and  20 mins = 20/60 = 1/3 hr

Distance = x * 1/3  = x/3  km

next 25 minutes by 2x km/hr  

Distance = 2x * 25/60  =  5x/6  km

remaining time = 50 - 20 - 25 = 5 mins = 1/12  hrs

Distance = 3x * 1/12  = x/4  km

Total Distance  = x/3 + 5x/6  + x/4

= ( 4x + 10x + 3x)/12

=17x/12

17x/12 = 68

=> x = 4 * 12

=> x = 48  

Hence value of x  is  48
