A person deposits rupees x in saving bank account at the rate of 5% per annum and rupees y in fixed deposit at 10% per annum. At the end of first year he gets rupees 400 as total interest. If he had deposited rupees y in savings bank account and rupees x in fixed deposit he would have got rupees 350 as total interest. Find the total amount he deposited.​

x×1×5/100+y×1×10/100=400

5x/100+10y/100=400

5x+10y=40000

x+2y=8000-----(1)

2nd case

x×10/100+y×5/100=350

10x+5y=35000

2x+y=7000----(2)

multiply by 2 in equation 1

2x+4y=16000

2x+y. =7000

by subtracting

3y= 9000

y=9000/3=3000

putting the value of y in equation 1

x=8000-2y

=8000-6000

=2000
