Let,

→ Amount of Bill = Rs x .

so,

→ Bill after giving discount = Amount of Bill - discount

and,

→ Discount = (Amount of bill * rate of discount * time of maturity) / (100 * 12)

→ 1989 = x - (x * 3.33 * 9)/(100 * 12)

→ 1989 = x - 0.025x

→ 1989 = 0.975x

→ x = Rs.2040

then,

→ Discount to be paid = 2040 - 1989 = Rs.51 (Ans.)
