time in which he hears an echo = 2 × distance between source of sound{e.g., gun} and building/speed of sound

given, distance between source of sound and building = 167m
and speed of sound = 332 m/s

now, time in why he hears an echo = 2 × 167/332
= 334/332 = 1.006 sec

d = 167

2d = 167 x 2  m

Speed of sound = 332 m/s

t for echo to be heard = ?

t = 2d/speed

= 167x2/332

= 1.00 Sec

The time in which the echo can be heard is 1.00 seconds.
