Given: A person gets fixed monthly income Every  year there is certain increment  in his salary. After 5 years, his  monthly salary was Rs. 5000  and after 10 years his monthly  salary became 10000 rupees

To find: His original salary  and yearly increment.

Solution:

  • Let x be his fixed monthly salary and the increment be y per year.
  • Now it is given after 5 years, his  monthly salary was Rs. 5000

                x + 5y = 5000   ......................(i)

  •  Now it is given after 10 years, his  monthly salary was Rs. 10000

                x + 10y = 10000   ......................(ii)

  • Solving equation (ii) - (i), we get:

                 5y = 5000

                y = 1000

  • Putting y = 1000 in (i), we get:

                x + 5(1000) = 5000

                x = 0

  • Here x = 0, the values in the questions might be not in order.
