Given

The total amount of money =Rs 5000

1st rate of interest=5% p.a.

2nd rate of interest=4% p.a.

total income= Rs 230

To Find

The amount he invested at 5% p.a.

Solution

Let the amount he invested at 5%p.a. be x

Therefore the amount he invested at 4%p.a.= 5000-x

Profit on x= \frac{5}{100}×x

Profit on 5000-x= \frac{5}{100}×(5000-x)

Therefore the equation =

\frac{5}{100}×x + \frac{5}{100}×(5000-x)=230

\frac{5x}{100}+ 200+- \frac{4x}{100}=230

\frac{5x-4x}{100}=230-200

\frac{x}{100}= 30

x=3000

He invested Rs 3000 at 5%p.a.
