A person has some hens and some cows.
If Heads : Feet = 2: 35, then Find the
number of hens while the number of
heads is 48.​

Answer:

Let no of Hens be x and No.of Cows be y.

Since each have 1 head total animals x+ y = 48(1)

Ratio of heads to legs= 12/35= 48/a ( given that number of heads =48)

Hence 12a= 35 ×48=1680

Hence a or number of legs=1680÷12=140

Each hen has 2 legs and each cow has 4 legs. So the equation for legs would be:

2x + 4y = 140

2x + 2y = 96 ( multiplying (1) by 2)

Solving we get 2y = 44, hence y= 22 which is the number of cows.

Therefore the number of hens = 48-22=26

I guess the ratio is 12:35 instead of 2:35
